In school health program, tuberculosis control program is the most important in Korea, But, till now there was no well organized and planned tuberculosis control program in school, especially there was no epidemiological data based program. So, to get the base-line data on tuberculosis in the each level of school and apply and use these data as a source of tuberculosis control program planning, this epidemiological study was done from March, 1973.
The results were as follows;
1) Total size of sample was 8,132.
2) The experience rate of tuberculin test showed that 59.6% in primary school, 69.6% in middle school and 78.5% in high school.
3) The positive rate of tuberculin test in the each level of school showed that in primary school the rate for female and male was 19.8% and 16.0% respectively, in middle school 21.0% and 31.2% respectively and in high school 37.1% and 21. 0% respectively.
4) Mostly (87^¢¥98%) the place for P. P. D. test taken was the school.
5) The vaccination rate of B. C. G in the each level of school were as follows;
i) In primary school, the rate for female and male was 46.8% and 53. 1% respectively.
ii) In middle school, the rate for female was 45. 0% and in high school the rate for male was
45.9%.
6) The age of B. C. G. vaccination taken was varied. Especially the range of the rate of B. C. G. taken before zero year old was 0. 1 to 5. 2%.
7) Mostly the place of B. C *G. taken was school.
8) The experience rate of chest X-ray examination for male in the each level of school was 41. 9%, 59.8% and 81.6% respectively.
9) The prevalence rate of tuberculosis in the all level of school was 0. 15%. In primary school, the prevalence rate for male and female was 0.3% and 0. 2% respectively.
10) The positive rate of P. P. D. test in tuberculosis and suspicious cases diagnosed by indirect chest X-ray examination was higer than that of normal cases.
11) The correlation between the average body weight and the size of tuberculin test was not significant.
12) The correlation between the level of hemoglobin and the size of tuberculin test was t significant.
